Bitcoin is a revolutionary invention by the human population which allows the transfer of promises from any individual to another. These promises are backed up by; time, energy, encryption, the largest computer network on planet Earth, people who support bitcoin, businesses who use bitcoin, and financial instruments which are measured in bitcoin!
GLD is backed up by the 'supposed' 1% holding of funds in actual gold... And possibly some bankrupt and corrupt financial institutions.
